What we help with

  • Writing a will, or updating an existing one
  • Applying for probate when the person left a will
  • Applying for letters of administration when there was no will
  • Collecting and distributing the estate, such as bank accounts, property and shares
  • Transferring property to beneficiaries

How it usually works

For a will, we talk through what you own and who you want to provide for, then draft the will and arrange for it to be signed and witnessed properly.

For an estate, we tell the family which documents to gather, prepare the court application and, once it is granted, help with transferring the assets.

Common questions

What is the difference between probate and letters of administration?
Probate is for when the person left a will. Letters of administration are for when there was no will. Both give someone the authority to manage the estate.
What should the family bring?
The death certificate, the will if there is one, identity cards of the family members, and any documents about the person's bank accounts, property or investments.
Can I update my will later?
Yes. It is a good idea to review your will after major life events such as marriage, the birth of a child or buying property.
How much does it cost?
We explain our fees before you decide. For estates, the cost depends on the size and type of the assets.
